Viton (FKM) and Silicone are widely used materials in the gasket and sealing industry, each serving different purposes. Silicone offers excellent food safety performance, being odorless, tasteless, and capable of withstanding a wide temperature range, making it ideal for direct food contact applications. Viton (FKM), on the other hand, is suitable for food industry use only when peroxide-cured FKM grades are applied, complying with standards such as FDA 21 CFR 177.2600. These food-grade FKM materials are especially effective in high-temperature environments involving oils, fats, and chemicals, where Silicone may have limitations.
